Epson ColorWorks C3400 vs. Epson ColorWorks C3500 Color Inkjet Label Printer

Print GHS labels with the Epson Tm-C3500 color label printer

When I first started using the Epson ColorWorks C3500 label printer (also known as the TM-C3500), I felt that it was very simple to use and very similar to the Epson TM-C3400.Both of thoselabel printers, have

a built-in cutter for the convenience of separating labels. The Epson TM-C3400 ships standard with a USB port to connect with your computer, while the TM-C3500 ships with both USB and Ethernet ports.

There are four individual high-yield CMYK pigment ink cartridges in the printer for even more efficient use of ink in the TM-C3500. As for the TM-C3400, it only uses a single multi-color CYM ink cartridge. Should at least one of the colors run out, the whole ink cartridge would need to be replaced for the TM-C3400. The TM-C3500 with its four ink cartridge system will allow the end user to save up to 30% on the ink cost when printing compared to the TM-C3400.

The color inkjet print-head technology in the TM-C3500 uses Epson MicroPiezo inkjet technology with the DURABrite Ultra Pigment ink, which gives eye-catching vibrant graphics with easy-to-read barcodes and text. The TM-C3500 all meets the GHS BS5609 certification requirements.

The print speed and print resolution of the TM-C3500 is much faster and of better quality than the TM-C3400. Whereas, the TM-C3500 could print up to 4” per second, while the TM-C3400 prints up to 3.7” per second.

The TM-C3500 was thought to be used only by the health care and medical industry. It turns out that the color inkjet printer is suitable for home-based, small, and medium size businesses. If there is a large demand for producing more than 5000 labels per month, it would probably be best to go with the Epson ColorWorks C7500 inkjet label printer for GHS compliant grade industrial labels, or the Epson ColorWorks C7500G for those that want to print a glossy polypropylene or clear label.

The print method for the TM-C3500 uses the MicroPiezo inkjet technology, with Automatic Nozzle Checking. At high-speed mode the printer uses 360 dpi x 180 dpi, compared to printing in fine mode, the speed is 360 dpi x 360 dpi. In the quality mode, the print resolution is 720 dpi x 360 dpi with a maximum printing width of 4.1”.

Overall, the Epson TM-C3500 is a great color inkjet label printer. The end user will find a reduction in the label costs, but an increase in the operational use of the printer. The TM-C3500 is perfect for industrial-grade commercial use, health care, and chemical labeling to meet the high-volume demand of printing labels and tags. All major label applications are supported on the TM-C3500.
